If your answer is "YES", then the Emmaus Group may well be for you.
The Group uses study material that explores different ways of deepening our understanding of Christian living and discipleship. The next module in the course, 'Overcoming Evil' looks at the question of sin, God's choice to overcome evil with good and how Christians can apply goodness in our lives and 'not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good'. Each module within the course usually lasts for 4 or 5 sessions.
Although there is a thread that links one module to another, each one also stands alone. In other words, it is not necessary to have attended previous modules to benefit from any particular module within the course. A committed group already exists but it would benefit from having an additional three or four members to supplement it and to learn from the new ideas and energy that you could offer.
These are big and serious issues to grapple with but the opportunity to listen and to talk about such issues, along with reading scripture and praying together will help us all, we hope, to a little more understanding and encouragement in our faith.
There are five sessions in this module and they will take place on Monday evenings in St. Andrew's church at 7.30pm on 30th January, 6th February, 13th February, 20th February and 27th February. There will also be a pre-module pizza and wine social on 23rd January which offers an opportunity for potential newcomers to learn more about the Emmaus course and what is involved without making any commitment. Everyone is welcome to join us.
If you are interested in joining such a group or would simply like to know more about it, please contact the Group leaders, Celia O’Neill or Tim Lavis. Leaflets in the Church are also available.
