FRIENDS OF THE PARISH
THE CHURCH is about people and it exists for people. The Church represents Jesus in and to the world and so embraces all people. The Church is inclusive and one aspect of its work is to build community and promote its welfare. The doors of your local church are always open to welcome you and offer a space for quiet reflection and a sanctuary for prayer and praise.
There has been a church building in Surbiton for 160 years, and our two Parish Churches are both visual and historical landmarks. St Andrew's is a listed building, and the finest surviving example of the work of the architect Blomfield. St Mark's is a wonderful symbol of how Surbiton rebuilt itself after the bomb damage of the 1940s.
Generations of Surbitonians have been baptised, married and buried in their Parish Churches. If you too value the presence of these churches in Surbiton, you may like to help support them. For all that the Church of England is the established church it does not receive any financial help from the state. We invite you to become a Friend of the Parish, and so help us to ensure that the buildings will still be serving the community in another 160 years.
We hope that former parishioners who have moved away from Surbiton may also like to join the Friends as a way of keeping in touch.
In becoming a Friend of the Parish you will help us to realise our vision for the Church and its role in making Surbiton a better place to live and work.
Membership of the Friends costs £10 per calendar year. The first year's membership will continue until December 2005. To become a Friend of the Parish, please contact the Parish Office, or click here to download a
subscription form. If you are a taxpayer, we would be grateful if you would also complete the Gift Aid Declaration. This will enable us to increase the value of your donation by 28% at no extra cost to you.
