TAXI!
Would a Taxicard help you? Our Borough, in association with Transport for London and other London Boroughs, participates in a scheme which provides accessible transport for people with mobility problems and/or impaired vision who have difficulty in using public transport.
If you have a disability lasting for more than 12 months, you may qualify for a Taxicard. This service is available regardless of income. It is dependant on need, and need may be assessed by a local council mobility assessor or via a doctor's certificate.
Many people who have qualified for Taxicards speak highly of the service. You can use it to go shopping, to church, to the hairdresser, or to visit friends. An assessment is made of the number of trips you are allocated. The fare is heavily subsidised, but a certain amount has to be paid.
For details and application forms please contact: Flexible Transport, Community Care Services, 22 Hollyfield Road, Surbiton KT5 9AL.
Telephone: 8547 6085.
